About Manhattan

Manhattan (Burggraaf x Abgar xx) is an offspring of the preferent stallion Burggraaf. Burggraaf is known as a supplier of show jumping horses. Examples of this are the talented show jumpers Burggravin, Dumbo, Jumper and Graaf. Grandsire Abgar is one of the most influential thoroughbreds in Dutch sport horse breeding. Manhattan comes from the performance line of Mr. Huisman in Ter Aard. This wonderful line produced among others the international show jumpers Carrera (by Joost), who with Jean-Claude Vangeenberghe won the Grand Prix of Aachen, but also Valeur D (by Abgar), who with Wout-Jan Van der Schans won the Eindhoven Derby twice. But also the approved stallion Donau comes from this line. Dam Utopia is a typical example of a successful cross between a thoroughbred with a Groninger line. Manhattan became reserve champion of the autumn performance test in Ermelo. Manhattan also became reserve champion of the Stallion Competition 1999. In 2001 Manhattan achieved various high placings in 1.35m classes, including 2nd HK Den Bosch, 2nd Stallion Jumping Denekamp and various top three placings in the Twente Cup qualifications and final. Manhattan became winner of the 7-year-olds in Etten-Leur at 1.40m level. After that Manhattan made his international debut in Leeuwarden, which resulted in a 2nd place at 1.40m. Furthermore Manhattan was second in the final of Bremen and 4th and 6th in Barcelona. In 2002 the Manhattan daughter Solita won the Dutch Championship Free Jumping. In 2003 Manhattan had no less than three designated sons at the KWPN stallion inspection. The offspring of Manhattan are popular with both dressage and show jumping riders. Two sons of Manhattan were designated for the KWPN performance test 2004. His son Stetter became fourth at the World Championships Young Horses in Lanaken (2004). Manhattan was in 2005 on the KWPN jumping index the highest placed stallion.
