About Kouros d'Helby

Kouros d'Helby is a 1998 chestnut Selle Français Originel stallion, standing 1.66m, by Narcos II. Bred by the Trihan-Lamotte family in France, he's owned by SNC d'Helby. His sire Narcos II was an excellent international performer with Eric Navet before being crowned Junior European Champion with young Florian Angot, and went on to sire top performers including Viking du Tillard (4th at the Atlanta Olympics) and Tangelo VD Zuuthoeve, among the best sires in the world. His dam Briseis d'Helby, though never shown herself, became one of the most prominent broodmares in Selle Français breeding, also producing approved stallions Quickly de Kreisker (top CSI5* performer with A. Ouaddar) and Javelot d'Helby. Kouros competed seriously through the young horse classes before earning his best results at 7 with Eric Février, including winning the Saint-Lô 3*GP in 2008 and the Dinard 1*GP in 2012, and finishing French Pro 1 Reserve Champion in 2008. Although used sparingly at stud, his offspring already stand out: 35% of his 2023 crop scored a sport index well above the national average, led by Aline d'Helby, a Pro Elite GP winner, and Edora d'Helby, labelled "Very Good" at just 6 years old.
