About Hesselhøj Donkey Boss

Hesselhöj Donkey Boss is the full brother of Hesselhöj Downtown, who won the World Young Horse Championships for 5-year-olds in 2021, just as he won the national championship finals as both a 4- and 5-year-old. The sire is Hesselhöj Donkey Boy, who is the only horse ever to win the Danish championship finals at ages 4, 5, 6, and 7. Donkey Boy was named champion stallion as a 3-year-old and then went on to win his stallion performance test. In addition, he won bronze at the World Championships for Young Horses (UVM) as a 5-year-old and silver as a 7-year-old. He was one of the youngest stallions ever to be awarded elite stallion status—at just 8 years old. The dam of Hesselhöj Donkey Boss is Boogie Woogie, herself a silver medal mare who performed an outstanding mare performance test, scoring 851.00 points, including 9.5 for trot. She later participated in the Danish Young Horse Championships in Herning, where she placed 9th—clearly marking her as one of the top mares of her year. Boogie Woogie has since been trained for S-level dressage under Anders Hoeck, with numerous wins and placings of up to 75%. The sire’s sire, Blue Hors Zack, needs little introduction. He has been a consistent member of the Danish national team for many years and was the Danish Champion in 2019. Zack has sired many international top-level horses and has proven to be highly influential through his many licensed sons, medal-winning offspring at the Young Horse World Championships, and highly evaluated mares. The dam's sire, Ragazzo, has produced many successful horses in both breeding and sport. Ragazzo himself is the full brother of Donnerschlag, who competed in Grand Prix dressage. Further back in the pedigree, you’ll find Schwadroneur, who also competed at the international Grand Prix level. Hesselhöj Donkey Boss received very consistent and high marks at his stallion performance test: Walk: 9.5 Trot: 9.5 Canter: 9.0 Rideability: 9.5 Test rider: 9.0 Temperament: 10 The judges described Donkey Boss as follows: “Donkey Boss is an expressive, elegant, and modern stallion with movement and mechanics in all three gaits that are far above average.” From his very first foal crop, in 2024, he sired the champion stallion in Oldenburg – Daan G, who was sold for over 20 million SEK to Helgstrand and Schockemöhle.
