About Haffruf

Haffruf is a Trakehner stallion born in 2020, bred by Maria von Schöning and standing at Hengststation Bachl in Germany. He is a son of Zauberdeyk (by Van Deyk), with Kentucky as his damsire, tracing to one of the most valuable mare dynasties in the Trakehner breed, rooted in the legendary black herd of Gurdszen from the defunct main stud. His sire Zauberdeyk is an effective ambassador for his paternal line, prominently represented by the elite stallion Van Deyk — one of the best dressage horses in Germany for many years with Dorothee Schneider — and the legendary riding horse sire Ibikus. Zauberdeyk proved his toughness in CIC** competitions before going on to win advanced (S***) level dressage tests and place highly in Grand Prix competitions. Damsire Kentucky is a former licensing champion with a reputation as a main sire; his daughters enrich the entire population as top mares, including mare-of-the-year champion Emma Peel and advanced (S) level dressage winners such as the impressive Krone. In the third generation stands the elite stallion Michelangelo, successful in advanced (S) level dressage and sire of numerous Grand Prix heroes. The maternal line is rooted in the Bussard daughter Herbstzeit, born in 1942 at the main stud in Trakehnen. With the help of Veronika von Schöning, the Herbstzeit daughter Herbstblüte founded an independent, flourishing mare dynasty that now counts among the particularly valuable breeding heritage of the Trakehner breed. Haffruf is closely related to the performance stallions Herzruf, Hirtentanz, Hibiskus, Herbstzauber, Heinrich der Welfe, and Hirtenglanz. At the Trakehner Stallion Market 2022, Haffruf impressed both with his athletic performance and his pedigree. Lars Gehrmann, Director of the Trakehner Breeding Association, noted that Zauberdeyk's first licensed son impresses as one of the largest and strongest stallions of the licensing year, with colossal conformation and a natural uphill momentum used in a very calm manner. Haffruf is trained and ridden by Friederike Hexe Schulz-Wallner.
