Ermitage Kalone

Ermitage Kalone has an attractive conformation with a well-set neck and a beautiful topline. What truly distinguishes him is his rideability, with looseness and carrying power in his gaits, combined with an exceptional jumping technique and tremendous power in the take-off. Ermitage Kalone was approved as a 3-year-old with the Selle Français studbook and was later moved to Belgium to Joris Van Dijck Stables, where he competed successfully in the Pavo Cup. As a 5-year-old, he placed 6th in the Stallions Championship in Belgium. Gilles Thomas took over the reins of the stallion in 2021. Together they achieved placings in Opglabbeek, Valkenswaard, and Lier in CSI Young Horse classes, and finished the season in Lanaken in the 7-year-old classes at the World Championships. He went on to debut in 4* and 5* competitions and has since achieved several top results, including: winner of the 1.40 m Grand Prix in Turnhout, second place in the Valkenswaard 2* Grand Prix, third place in a 1.45 m class at Brussels CSI 3*, and fifth place in the “Open Sires of the World” at Mechelen CSI 5*. Since then, Ermitage Kalone has gone from strength to strength at the very highest level and can now also add the Olympic Games in Paris to his list of achievements. Ermitage Kalone’s offspring are still relatively young. His first crop was born in 2018, and the progeny are already showing promising success in show jumping sport, at auctions, and in stallion performance tests. Notable offspring include Simply the Best, placed in age classes in Belgium; Sunday JM, BWP Vice Champion in the Lannoo Tour for young stallions; Sirocco T, sold for €42,000 as a 3-year-old at the Zangersheide auction; Extreme D’Emma Z, an approved BWP stallion; Telstar JM, an approved AES stallion; and Ultra Star JM, the 2023 BWP Champion.
