About Cartello VDL

Cartello, born in 2007, is an internationally successful show jumping stallion approved by Holstein, AES and KWPN. Ridden by Darragh Kenny, he established himself at the very highest level of the sport, achieving numerous victories and top placings in Nations Cup and Grand Prix competitions worldwide. One of the highlights of his career was competing at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021, where he delivered strong performances for the Irish team, including a win in the opening speed class. In the later years of his career, Cartello claimed victory in the Grand Prix of Monterrey and finished second in the Rolex Grand Prix at the Spruce Meadows Masters. Over the course of his sporting career, he earned more than €1.6 million in prize money before retiring from top-level sport. Cartello is bred from an exceptional performance pedigree. His sire Cartani competed at international Grand Prix level and is by Carthago, who represented his country at two Olympic Games. His dam Taggi won individual bronze and team gold at the World Equestrian Games in The Hague in 1994. Cartello’s dam, B-Estelle, is a daughter of the legendary Lord and also produced the world-renowned stallion Cardento. With his combination of proven top-level sport and outstanding pedigree, Cartello represents international elite quality in modern show jumping breeding.
