About Haras de Semilly

Haras de Semilly is a family-run stud and reproduction centre in Couvains, Normandy, founded more than 30 years ago by Richard Levallois. Over 600 mares are followed each year, with a team available around the clock when needed. REQS ELITE certified centre. Insemination: fresh, chilled or frozen semen, including deep insemination, with any stallion available on the market. Daily gynaecological monitoring, several times a day when needed. Embryo transfer: more than twenty years of experience and a herd of 250 recipient mares. Collection at Semilly or at another centre. Recipient mares for lease or sale. Boarding: more than 250 hectares of Normandy pasture, with stables, paddocks or large fields. Foaling: around 80 foalings a year, with 24/7 camera surveillance and foaling alarms. Stallion services: EU-approved laboratory producing fresh, chilled and frozen semen. Every frozen dose guarantees at least 35% live, motile sperm. Limited places: priority is given to mares booked to Semilly stallions and to embryo transfers. Please contact us before booking or sending semen. Foaling is only offered for mares in foal to a Semilly stallion, or recipient mares from our own transfers. Embryo transfer guarantee: from 45 days of pregnancy until 48 hours after foaling. Do more in the Avla app

This is just a glimpse of what's here. The Avla app is where breeders plan their next foal, whether it's your first mare or your fortieth season. Open this station in the app and you get the full picture: every stallion standing here, their complete descriptions, photos, competition results and full pedigrees.

And Avla goes well beyond browsing stallions. It’s your digital breeding partner, with you from the first “which stallion?” all the way to the foal on the ground. Calculate inbreeding between any mare and stallion in seconds, so you can match with confidence instead of crossing your fingers. Track your mare’s heat cycles, log every covering, treatment, and ultrasound, and follow her through pregnancy with a calendar that walks you week by week. And when you’re weighing your options, Stig, Avla’s AI breeding advisor, is there to talk through matches and answer your breeding questions like a friend who knows their bloodlines.

No scattered notebooks, no guesswork. Just your whole breeding journey in one place, free to download on the App Store and Google Play.
